Our Core Values
Triskele is a sanctuary that is open to all freely with the honouring to move ever closer to the communities core values. These include;
Commitment to total Non Violence; In action, speech, thought, consumption...
Commitment to personal growth; Through participating mindfully in community activities and (un)learning skills/ knowledge with an attitude of relying on clarity over points of view.
Commitment to radical simplicity; Reducing and eliminating products and practices that are unnecessary for a fulfilling and wholesome healthy existence.
Commitment to Service; Engaging for 1 month annually to service in the wider community on a voluntary basis, eg, Superhero bicycle ride, teaching, etc
The culture of our community
Triskele shall slowly build out from a family run project as more long term members join. We believe in the heart of consensus, fully involving all and integrating the diverse wisdom and clarity we all possess. We also do not wish to spend all our time processing. Desiring to have a governance system capable of all this whilst allowing the vision to be maintained, we are modelling our governance system on holocracy, within a less formal atmosphere appropriate to the project.
The organization shall develop as a holarchy of semi-autonomous, self-organizing circles relating to different aspects of the Farms working . Our family shall remain the core directors in the initial phases, with new members taking on elements of the farm over time.
Each circle is given an aim by its higher-level circle, and has the authority and responsibility to execute, measure, and control its own processes to move towards that aim. A lower circle is always linked to the circle above it via another person who belongs to and takes part in the decision making of both the higher circle and the lower circle. This person has overall accountability for the lower-level circle’s results.
Individuals take whatever action needs to be taken to best reach the circle's aims, regardless of what structure and policies are or are not in place. If such action goes against or outside existing policies, the individual takes the action anyway, and then seeks to restore any imbalance or unfairness created. This allows everyone a good degree of autonomy, leading to efficient work flows, whilst trusting the inherent ability of all.
Decisions by Integrative Emergence
Decisions are crafted in circle meetings by systematically integrating the core truth or value in each perspective put forth, until no one present sees additional perspectives that need to be integrated before proceeding under the then-current proposal, giving the circle leverage for maximizing collective intelligence. All decisions are made based on present understanding and refined as new information emerges, in a process of dynamic steering. People are elected to key roles after open community discussion, dependent on their commitment to the project.
Restorative Justice
When issues arise, balance is reestablished through a restorative justice system rather than a punitive one. First, all individuals involved “look in the mirror" to find their contribution to the situation, and take restorative action to bring the system back into balance. The extent of their restorative action is commensurate with their contribution, as measured by the relevant circle. Once restorative action is underway, the circles involved use the situation to learn and adapt, by defining or evolving accountabilities, limits, measurements, and policies to transcend the need for the injustice in the first place.
Triskele community is a dynamic mix, drawing long term internship members who make up the majority of the community. The farm has a core family, with people wishing to participate on a long term basis working at the farm for an extended period before joining. The community runs in parallel to the work at Triskele, although by more radically simple means.
The dwellings at the farm are constructed with local and bioregionally appropriate materials, and everyone is encouraged to strive towards a simple fossil fuel and electricity free lifestyle, with the office and farm workshops have power and computer access. The focus on radical simplicity and minimizing/ supplying our own needs is a conscious choice to live as close to nature as possible, focusing on inner and community development. This is achieved through regular meeting, shared mealtimes, daily ritual and community service.
For the duration of their stay, interns are treated as full participatory members, and as such are encouraged to join all consensus meetings and community activities. Through the thorough engagement and participation of all members of the community we can more clearly see and hear each other, and ultimately feel more involved and responsible for the work we are engaged in and each other.
By rotating daily facilitators ( We all take turns to lead the days structure, the farm being run by a couple of sheets of paper!), co- creative resonance circles, NVC and co- councilling sessions we strive towards deeper connection to ourselves, each other and our surrounding community. A mindfulness bell throughout the day brings us back to ourselves as we cultivate deeper mindfulness. Meals are community times to rest, play and celebrate together regularly. We also share songs and learn daily about other community members (Flora and Forna) that we share our space with.

We are excited to bring the cultivation of awareness into every moment of every day, and support each other in the process of deepening our spiritual growth. Modern life forces so many of us to compartmentalise different aspects of our being in a way that is disharmonious to both our work in the world, our connection with others and how we steward and interact with the land.
Triskele maintains that through the synthesis of spiritual practice, community support and a simple lifestyle connected to nature and service we can all move closer to a deeper and more fulfilling existence.
Every dwelling is wood heated and free of mains connections. There is a land-line telephone as an exception, as we encourage all farm members to limit or renounce mobile technologies. This lifestyle choice allows us to engage with the positive powers of Open Source Technology, for example, whilst keeping our "home" life as simple and natural as possible. We have chosen to live in the way that is closest to our ideals, that allows our hearts to sing, yet affords us to communicate with as broad a spectrum of people as possible in our work.
Triskele is an experiment- to discover and re- discover our full potential as humans living gracefully and in harmony with all other beings and the planet. The community shares the desire to move ever closer to their highest ideals. There are no set boundaries or rules, other than the shared value of supporting each other in achieving our highest intentions and values.
