Introducing our family
Heres Michelle and Richard disguised as Superheroes during the 2010 UK Haul of Justice. If you look close you can see a little bump in Michelles costume, that`s the new little Superhero! We are committed to this project in different ways. We know that broad-acre farming has to change dramatically as we approach Peak Oil, and the affects of Global Weirding become more obvious around the globe. We also value the alternative networks of activists working on a more personal and community level. Its a very important time of transition for us in so many respects, and we are aiming to gain the maximum leverage through this project to help achieve our vision to
Effect the most positive change, for the largest number of Beings, for the longest possible time, with the least possible effort!
So we value keeping our doors open, warmly inviting whoever wishes to come and share the abundance we enjoy daily. We are making a farm that inspires awe in every single visitor who passes through, stays a while, or joins us. Here we share some of our journey, our dreams and ideals so that you can see a clearer and richer picture of how this has all come about.
Over the years we have been acquiring all the skills and knowledge we need to run such a complex project, as well as deeply exploring the economic and social aspects of community and striving on our spiritual paths.
Richard left home to live with people who hold many of the old and forgotten land skills, turning him onto simple and fulfilling lifestyles from nature connection, self- reliance and community. The vision has been growing for over a decade, and slowly every part of His life has been turning to focus on the What, How, Why, When, Who of a project such as this. As director of the successful Integralpermanence, offering Permaculture teaching and consulting in the UK and abroad, Richard has been passionately sharing the diverse and rich skills and knowledge He has accumulated over the years. The journey into this big adventure has led Richard through Organic Horticulture school, a Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design and He is currently working on A MSc in Integrative Eco Social Design at the cutting edge Gaia University
Michelle and Richard met during a long stay at the inspiring Pun Pun and Panya communities in Northern Thailand. Over a year of living simply in community, learning and growing, and teaching Permaculture design and natural building. Their exploration into other communities and land based projects has taken them across America, the UK and South East Asia. As a young family they are deeply impassioned about land based living as vital for a child's natural education. The exploration of different ways of functioning as a community left them deeply impressioned by The Hummingbird community and The Possibility Alliance in Missouri, USA. This amazing and thriving community runs by Gandhian Non Violent principles, and lives electricity and fossil fuel free. Their decision not to charge money demonstrates the level of possibility when people live their dreams from their hearts with full conviction. We aim to bring these values into our home, with daily practice and commitment to simplicity and service to others. The farm shall have different levels of technology to give leverage and applicability to as many people as possible, and yet our homes shall be a sanctuary that keeps us connected and energised to fulfil our needs and give a lot of energy to the farm. This idea comes from living into our highest ideals whilst fulfilling a desire to affect change for the greatest number of people, ie, demonstrating appropriate use of higher technology for broader application.
Between them, Richard and Michelle have lived in many low impact ways, in various community settings, built multiple low impact homes, grown organic vegetables commercially, worked in the organic food sector, managed communities, taught numerous Permaculture courses, led building internships, tended animals, participated in communities and community events, planted food forests, dug swales, grown a lot of amazing old varieties of veg, planted thousands of trees, run courses of education, healed people with herbs and acupuncture and reiki, served communities and built a library containing everything they could possibly need on this journey. They have also begun collecting old hand tools for calorie efficient work at the Farm! After over a decade of living into their dreams and ideas, Michelle and Richard are fully committed to creating an abundant space of love, learning, reconnection and abundance open for all to share!
